About
Hello! My name is Erika. I am a music industry professional by day, cat mom by night, and a tree hugger all the time.
I am originally from Southern California where I lived among constant reminders of the state of the environment. Going for a walk on the beach often meant picking up tons of trash along the way and driving into the city meant being greeted by a massive layer of smog. I always thought of myself as good steward of the earth. I used reusable grocery bags, I recycled, and would pick up litter when I came across any.
In December of 2016 I was feeling particularly uneasy about a lot of things in my life. I decided that I needed to work on learning about myself and figure out how to live a life that was fully in line with my values. I had no idea how I would even begin to do this. Then, one day I came across a video of someone who tried living zero waste for 30 days. I slowly began to learn about the zero waste movement and sustainable living. Just like that, the first step of living my best life was decided. I was going to live my life intentionally and sustainably.
Many people who live a zero waste lifestyle keep all of the waste they generate throughout the year in a glass jar. Well, this blog is my journey to living a sustainable life and creating my own glass jar. My glass jar will not be perfect, but I will give it my best shot. I hope you will join me on this journey through successes and failures. And just maybe, you will be inspired to start your own glass jar.
